TSAILE, Ariz. – Diné College is proud to welcome back two of its recent graduates, who have joined the college in key roles to support the institution, its students, and surrounding communities. Sterling R. Walter, a 2024 graduate, now serves as the Newcomb Microsite Manager. Tyrel C. Pablo, also a 2024 graduate, has taken on the role of Academic Success Coach at the Crownpoint Center.
The return of Walter and Pablo to Diné College underscores the institution’s commitment to fostering engagement and connection between graduates and their communities. Both individuals bring not only academic expertise but also a deep understanding of the importance of education and cultural identity to the Diné people.
“It is great to work at Newcomb and collaborate with the nearby schools and the community,” said Walter. “Being in this role allows me to give back and create opportunities for students as they work toward their goals.”
Pablo echoed similar sentiments about his role at the Crownpoint Center. “I enjoy working with students here in Crownpoint, and I hope we see more students apply,” Pablo said. “It’s fulfilling to help them succeed and know that I can make an impact on their educational journeys.”
Graduates returning to work with Diné College play a vital role in strengthening the connection between academic institutions and the families and communities they serve. Their familiarity with the unique challenges students face positions them to provide effective mentorship and inspiration to both new and returning students.
“We are incredibly grateful to have Sterling and Tyrel as part of our team,” said Winnie Jumbo, Director of External Campuses and Sites. “Having alumni come back to work with us demonstrates the positive ripple effect of our mission and vision. Their dedication uplifts not just the college but the Diné communities as a whole.”
“Having Mr. Pablo come onboard is welcomed, and his insight on the processes needed to be undertaken will give current and potential students a leg up,” stated Tyrone J. Begay, Crownpoint Center Manager. “As the Center Manager, I look forward to working with Mr. Pablo and getting students served in our immediate area.”
The college continues to celebrate the achievements of its former students and values their contributions to advancing the Diné way of life through education, service, and leadership.
