Diné College Rodeo Team Shines at the University of Arizona NIRA Intercollegiate Rodeo

TUCSON, AZ —The Diné College Rodeo Team, under the leadership of Coach Ed Holyan and Athletic Manager Brandon G. Begaye, demonstrated outstanding performance at the University of Arizona Intercollegiate Rodeo event. Coach Holyan commended the new team members for their outstanding victory in team roping, emphasizing the team’s collective dedication to improvement and hard work. He expressed pride in the team’s skill and determined efforts, setting a promising season for Spring 2024.
The Spring 2024 team, consisting of Dean Holyan, Lane Bitsilly, Noah Haven, Teshawna Hunt, Racey Blackrock, Rhiannon Lee, and Mia Wilson, showcased their talents and commitment at this event. Notably, Dean Holyan and Lane Bitsilly achieved a noteworthy feat with the fastest time in Team Roping, clocking in at 5.09 seconds.
Brandon Begaye, Diné College Athletic Manager, highlighted the significance of this inaugural event for the team, citing the valuable experience gained at the early stages of the season. Looking ahead, the team eagerly anticipates future competitions, demonstrating their readiness to continue making an impact in the world of rodeo.
In recognition of his exceptional achievement, Lane Bitsilly is slated to receive his well-deserved buckle on Monday, marking a significant milestone for both the athlete and the team.
