Diné College prepares for the 2024 Spring Commencement on May 10, 2024

TSAILE, AZ – Diné College, The Nation’s College located in Tsaile, Arizona, has announced the Spring Commencement Ceremony, which is scheduled for May 10, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. The ceremony will be held in front of the Kinyaa’áanii Library. The college is comprised of four schools: the School of Arts and Humanities, the School of Business and Social Science, the School of Diné Studies and Education, and the School of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Diné College will award 118 degrees and certificates to 114 graduates, some receiving multiple degrees. Also, nine Adult education graduates.
We are honored to have Shelly C. Lowe, Chair of the National Endowment for the Humanities, as our esteemed Commencement Speaker. A citizen of the Navajo Nation from Ganado, Arizona, Lowe brings a wealth of experience in higher education. Her impressive career includes significant positions such as Executive Director of the Harvard University Native American Program, Assistant Dean in the Yale College Dean’s Office, and Director of the Native American Cultural Center at Yale University. Prior to these roles, she was the Graduate Education Program Facilitator for the American Indian Studies Programs at the University of Arizona. Lowe’s contributions extend beyond academia, as she has served in leadership capacities with several organizations, including the National Indian Education Association and the National Museum of the American Indian. Her achievements are a true inspiration to us all.
Lowe earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and a Master of Arts in American Indian Studies from the University of Arizona, where she also completed doctoral coursework in Higher Education.
