Diné College Announces Albert Haskie as New Statistician Specialist

TSAILE, Ariz. – Diné College has designated Albert Haskie as the new Statistician Specialist for the Office of Institutional Planning and Research (OIPR). Haskie, a Diné College alumnus from Lukachukai, Arizona, brings a diverse background in software engineering, filmmaking, and data management to the role.

Haskie specializes in developing innovative technological solutions with an emphasis on Navajo language revitalization and cultural preservation. “I am honored to return to Diné College and serve my community in this capacity,” Haskie said. “I hope to leverage my skills in data management and process optimization to support research that uplifts and empowers Diné students and the College’s mission.”

With expertise in machine learning, Haskie has explored applications to benefit Indigenous communities while also creating films that celebrate Navajo culture. His storytelling efforts aim to inspire and educate while preserving the resilience and creativity of his community.

“We are thrilled to welcome Albert to the Office of Institutional Planning and Research,” said Velveena Davis, Executive Director of Institutional Planning & Reporting, Diné College. “His technical expertise and deep connection to the Diné community make him uniquely suited for this position.”

Haskie, who draws strength from his clans—Ashiihí, Toahedlíinii, Tł’izí Łaní, and Kinyaa’áanii—looks forward to contributing meaningfully to the College’s initiatives.
