Bachelor’s of Arts in Education with an emphasis in Multicultural Education (B.A.)
The teacher education degree programs at Diné College are being expanded to meet the teacher shortage in New Mexico and produce more teachers in the state of New Mexico.
The new Bachelor’s of Arts in Education degree (emphasis: Multi-cultural perspective) will be offered in Northwest region of New Mexico for teachers and students who are seeking teacher licensure, certification, and/or endorsement.
The teacher education program includes a multicultural/bilingual/and multilingual emphasis, which is strongly needed in the state of New Mexico. Diné College teacher education programs are for all school systems with accredited status in the education system.
Program Details:
Teacher candidates will be provided a curricula that includes culturally and linguistically relevant tools and are designed to ensure teacher candidates are supported by mentor teachers each semester.
The Teacher Education program at Shiprock Branch will be a cohort model. The multicultural curricula is designed specifically for emerging educators, paraprofessionals and classroom teachers.

Instructors
Bi-Lingual Education (BLE) Instructor Eligibility:
A New Mexico teacher desiring to apply as an adjunct instructor for the Northwest Teacher Education Program (NTEP) must meet the following crititeria:
- Candidate must have a minimum of a Master’s Degree in Education, Multicultural Education, or similar area. Must be New Mexico Teacher certified, and/or Principal or Administrator certified in the state of New Mexico, and/or TESOL endorsed.
- Candidate must be approved as an adjunct instructor for Dine College by a department chairperson before the teacher begins instruction.
- Candidate must be willing to have his/her work reviewed by program. This review will include observation of the Bi-lingual Education (BLE) classroom, curriculum review, a sampling of their curriculum, and participation in the program assessment process.
