Diné College student competing for the Annual Miss Navajo Nation title at the Navajo Nation Fair scheduled for September in Window Rock

Tsaile, Ariz. – The Navajo Nation announced the 76th Annual Navajo Nation Fair, September 4th to the 8th in Window Rock. This year’s theme, “Honoring Heritage: Celebrating Harvest, Livelihood & Kinship,” reflects the Navajo Nation’s culture and community traditions.
One of the highlights of this year’s fair is the Miss Navajo Nation pageant, where six talented young women will compete for the prestigious title.
Among the contestants is Dayhenoa Ch’ikeeh Nizhoonii Yazzie, a student from Diné College pursuing her B.A. in Science Public Health. “This will be an honor to represent my school, my family, and my heritage,” said Yazzie.
The 2024 Miss Navajo Nation contestants are:

• Ranisha Chrislyn Begay, Rock Point, Ariz.
• Niaomi Ranae Benally, Black Mesa, Ariz.
• Taneesha Francis, Fish Point, Ariz.
• Kiana Omi Toadlena, Sawmill, Ariz.
• Dayhenoa Ch’ikeeh Nizhoonii Yazzie, Monument Valley, Ariz.
The Miss Navajo Nation competition is a rigorous and multifaceted pageant designed to test contestants’ knowledge and skills in various aspects of Diné culture. The participants will be evaluated on their knowledge and proficiency of the Diné language and their understanding of the culture and traditions. Additionally, they will showcase their talents and articulate what it means to be Diné through public speaking segments.
