20th December 2024
Chinle, Ariz. – Diné College representatives highlighted the benefits of their Dual Credit Program during halftime at the Southwest Food Excellence Winter Classic, held at Chinle High School’s Wildcat Den. The program helps high school students jumpstart their higher education by earning college credits while still attending high school.
“High school students can get an early start by earning college credits through our Dual Credit Program,” said Erica Nez, Dual Credit Specialist. “Courses offered through Diné College vary from Navajo Language to Mathematics to Freshman English.”
The program ensures students gain college credit upon successful completion of courses aligned with Diné College curricula. Classes are conducted either at high school campuses or at Diné College locations.
“Students are official college students with full access to Diné College resources, including academic support, library services, gym facilities, and computer labs,” stated Valadia Mejia, Dual Credit Coordinator. “Courses are affordable and often free, making them an excellent opportunity for families.”
Dual credit courses are transferable to colleges in Arizona, New Mexico, and many institutions nationwide. By participating, students gain confidence and prepare for future success.
