Diné College Students Host Successful Rabies Vaccination Clinic on World Rabies Day

05 November 2023

TSAILE, AZ — Students from Diné College’s Veterinary Science/One Health, Animal Physiology, and Animal Disease classes within the Agriculture program, School of STEM, demonstrated their commitment to the community by organizing and conducting a free rabies vaccination clinic on Thursday, September 28th, 2023, in observance of World Rabies Day. The event took place at the Diné College Land Grant Office and was a resounding success.

The students, under the guidance of their dedicated instructor, took on the responsibility of providing vital rabies vaccinations to pets and animals in the local community. World Rabies Day serves as a global platform to raise awareness about rabies prevention, and Diné College students were proud to contribute to this important cause.

The clinic provided an opportunity for pet owners and community members to ensure the health and safety of their beloved animals by offering free rabies vaccinations. Rabies is a deadly disease that affects both animals and humans, and vaccination is a critical preventive measure. The event was open to the public, and a steady stream of attendees took advantage of this valuable service.

Dr. Scott Bender, the instructor for these classes, expressed his pride in the students’ dedication and hard work in organizing the clinic. “Our students are not only learning valuable skills in veterinary science and animal care but also actively participating in community service. Their commitment to providing rabies vaccinations on World Rabies Day reflects their understanding of the importance of public health and animal welfare.”

The success of this event is a testament to the dedication of Diné College students and their instructors to making a positive impact on the community while gaining practical experience in their field of study. Diné College remains committed to fostering a culture of community engagement and service, and events like the World Rabies Day vaccination clinic exemplify the institution’s dedication to this mission.
